Yet more names have emerged in AC Milan’s pursuit of a new head coach as talks were held with Maurizio Sarri and Roberto Martinez, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning, the Milan management have gone back to the drawing board in their pursuit of the man to take over from Stefano Pioli at the end of the season.

The man they had chosen was Julen Lopetegui but the strong protests from a large section of supporters forced them to re-evaluate, and now it seems that the leading candidate is in fact Sergio Conceicao of Porto.

Nonetheless, Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and the rest of the management have to keep their options open so as not to be caught unprepared, and it is during this phase that talks are being held with various options.

There have also been contacts with the Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez as per the paper, as well as with Mark van Bommel and with Maurizio Sarri, who at the moment does not seem to convince.

Milan want to decide without feeling rushed but they also know that time is of the essence. The idea is to communicate the decision in the second half of this month, perhaps at the end of the season.
